Our Caregivers

Our workers are qualified individuals who are screened and trained. They complete a first aid and CPR course and are required to attend training provided by the Caregiver Support Program.

Geriatric Psychiatry

The northwest communities of Fort Frances, Kenora, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, and Atikokan have access to Geriatric Psychiatry provided by Toronto's Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care.

Professionals affiliated with the District Mental Health Services for Older Adults Program in these northwest communities have access through videoconferencing technology to consult with Dr. David Conn, Geriatric psychiatrist on a weekly basis in regards to providing client assessment, case consultations as well as education.

This technology allows mental health workers in the district to enhance their skills and knowledge in treating older adults with serious mental illness or dementia as well as providing a needed service within each community.
