What we do:
Talking About Mental Illness – Is a program designed for grade 11 students in the health and sociology programs, where we bring into the classroom a panel of consumers of the mental health system to answer questions about life experiences living with a mental illness.
Grade 7 and 8 Education – Presentations designed on topics such as Making Healthy Choices; Eating Disorders and Healthy Body Image; Stress and Self Care throughout school and life.
Presentations can be designed for specific areas of interested.
Community Information
- Newspaper articles about various mental illnesses
- Community presentations about Seasonal Affective Disorder; Anxiety; Depression and various other topics as requested
- Displays at Home and Leisure Shows; various community Health Fairs and other community venues
- Resource information for the public as requested
Hearing Voices Workshop – a simulated 3 hour workshop where participants listen to voices, recorded by voice hearers, while carrying out specific tasks. It provides the participant with a better understanding of people who hear voices and the challenges they face while living daily life.
Photovoice – A program whereby people learn how to put their voices to photography regarding issues that are of importance to them. Programs are delivered to consumers of the mental health system who often do not have access to or the ability to make themselves heard.
Stand Up For Mental Health – A stand up comedy program where consumers of the mental health system learn to share the lighter side of mental illness and laugh about it.
